It could help you to see the right person for treatment or could save you a trip to the practice, since we may be able to deal with your health concerns by phone or email.

Telephone Appointments

Every initial appointment is by phone, this means that the GP will call you at home or work to see if your issue can be diagnosed over the phone. If you require medications the surgery will send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice so you can collect it.

If the GP believes that a face-to-face consultation is necessary then you will recieve an appointment at the surgery between 11am-12am or 5pm-6pm - depending on when your initial telephone consultation was.

Why do we use telephone consultations?
By initially having telephone consultations we are able to provide more appointments each day and therefore have a considerably shorter waiting list, as well as saving patients a trip to the surgery if they can be easily diagnosed. We have been able to increase the number of appointments by 25% each day and found that the Did Not Attend (DNA) rate dropped from the previous 12% - everyone picks up their phone!
